Why Adult Learners Do Not Finish Their Degrees

Only 7%, on average, of employees who are reimbursed for education actually take advantage of the Educational Assistance Benefit. Many of the working professionals who start a degree plan will not complete it.

Why Adult Learners Don't Finish Their Degrees
• Employees needing to finish an undergraduate degree may not know if their former credits will transfer or how to make this happen.
• Employees seeking graduate degrees may have an undergraduate degree from outside the US and be unfamiliar with the US college system.
• Employees may be drawn to schools that advertise and not look at other options for their degrees and start a program unsuitable for their needs, background and career goals.
• Employees may be unsure about the best major and how that major aligns with career goals.
• Employees may be unrealistic about adding school time to their busy schedule and can't complete their courses on time.
• Employees may be confused and hesitant about navigating the college maze.

These reasons (and many more) are why many reimbursed employees do not start or finish their degrees. All of the reasons can be resolved if a company hires an Educational Counselor for their employees.

Educational Counseling services can benefit employees and the company's educational assistance program. Educational Advising can:
• Save time off a degree for employees by introducing Educational Options, such as testing out of classes, life and work experience options, military credits and corporate classes.
• Save Tuition Reimbursement dollars (average of 20% off a degree plan), especially for undergraduate degrees
• Help employees select the best degree plan and college, focused on employee goals, background and skills
• Give employees hope they can navigate the college maze, get enrolled and succeed

There are several good educational counseling services for your employees. EduPlan, College Coach and Emcompass Education have the consulting skills to work with your employees and within the Educational Assistance Policy of your company.

Dr. Sandy Womack is Director of EduPlan, an educational consulting company specializing in educational counseling for working professionals, tuition reimbursement and managed education.

Cheap Aromatherapy Courses Online

Aromatherapy Courses don't have to be expensive to be good, but you should know what to look for so you do get quality information. Cheap doesn't always mean you will get value for your money.

Cheap Aromatherapy Courses can be found online but you have to be sure to take the time to find out a little about what is actually being offered.

Some people may unscrupulously sell you a small ebook telling you that it is an aromatherapy course. Others may offer very short courses for cheap.

There are affordable alternatives on the Internet which are both quite cheap compared to others and yet still contain a wealth of knowledge.

Here are a few pointers to look out for when checking out the cheap aromatherapy courses on-line.

  • Is the teacher someone you can find some information about regarding her qualifications etc?
  • Do the courses teach you according to the standards set forth by the National Assosciaton of Holistic Aromatherapists (N.A.H.A.)? They don't necessarily have to be listed with the association but their courses should meet the standards required by them. Many people don' t like to join aromatherapy associations due to the costs of being a member. This helps them to keep their overhead lower and therefore able to offer their courses more cheaper than those who are members. Membership fees and advertising fees with the various aromatherapy associations can add up quickly.
  • Do they teach you to use essential oils safely and effectively. I have seen some cheap courses on-line which recommend Birch Essential Oils and others which are extremely dangerous.
  • Beware of any courses that suggest you ingest essential oils. This is a very dangerous practice and should be avoided completely.

Hopefully these tips will help you find something of what you are looking for which are also worth their value. There are some affordable aromatherapy courses on the Internet if you take the time to search for them. A simple search in Google can usually bring up some good results. Check out the websites offering aromatherapy courses and use the criteria given above and you are sure to find something that is reasonable as well as safe.
